Yamaha and Hutton score third Outright at AORC, 1st in E1

Queenslander ‘King Kirk’ Hutton had one of the best results of his four-year Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) career yesterday, winning his class and a highly coveted Outright podium spot.

The 36-year-old, from Kobble Creek (in the Pine River’s Shire), took the top prize in Championship E1 and third Outright at round eight of the AORC, held at Cherrabah Resort, near Warwick.

“This weekend was unreal, I was riding really well and my Yamaha was running brilliantly,” Hutton, of the Ballard’s Wellard Yamaha Team, said.

“I think being in my home state allowed me to relax and I really just let it flow and had fun.

“I’m 14-years-older than the guys who finished first and second Outright and it’s good to know I can still bang bars with the young guys, that I’m among the best in the country.

“I had a great time this weekend and it’s given me a lot to think about for the final rounds at Young next month.

“I always ride heaps better in Queensland, so I need to work on relaxing when I get to other states and getting comfortable.

“I know how fast I can go and I’m determined to have more good results at Young.”

Kirk’s next Queensland competition will be round three of the Queensland Enduro-Cross series to be held at Green Park, Conondale, on August 30th. For more info go to www.qldenduro.com.

Kirk’s next national competition will be the final rounds of the AORC to be held at Young (NSW) on September 12th and 13th. To follow Kirk’s progress in the AORC go to www.dirtbikepromotions.com.au
